The official blog for the Higurashi no Naku Koro ni on the Japanese Animate.tv website has announced that a third season has been greenlit for production. The blog entry says that no details have been decided, but it also says that people can look forward to Higurashi no Naku Koro ni in 2008. A live-action film had been previously announced for 2008.
But that doesn’t make any sense… If Kai is going to finish off Matsuribyoshi-Hen then where will they get the material? And even if they did write more then it would conflict with the orignal games.
Not really sure, but they will think out of something
Theres a few chapters from the game called Higurashi Rei, which it will more than likely be made from =)
Ah… Well, There IS a manga, you know. There is alot more story in each manga, actually. Like, for example, one where Mion/Shion is much older, and Hinamizawa has succumbed. I believe it’s called the “Yoigoshi” Chapter. It’s really good… You can read it on onemanga.com…

Buuut, Yeah, there’s plenty more story to it than just the anime. I personally, can’t WAIT until the next season.
There’s still heaps of questions that went unanswered in the first season that I’ve posted on my site…does anyone know the answers??? coz that’d be a big help!
